TEAM EVENTS

For Clubs who are unable to field a club team for TP & TS, there will be a trial for the 2025 year to allow both pool and self-selected composite teams. Only club teams will be eligible to score points towards the points shield.

TEAM TRAINING

Clubs can book one or two hour slots of training time for TBC. The charge for this is $100 + GST per hour and clubs may be asked to share. Contact events@cnz.kiwi to book your training time, noting this is not a guaranteed booking until CNZ confirms. To book training time prior to TBC please contact the Velodrome by emailing office@cyclingsouth.org.nz

Please email events@cnz.kiwi if you need to make any changes and team managers will need to confirm entries and make changes at confirmation of starters.

Individuals will be able to complete their entry through Event Plus. Clubs will each be given a unique entry code which riders will require to allow them to enter the event. The Club will only share the unique code for entry if that rider meets the entry criteria below, and in sharing the code gives their authority for that rider to submit their entry.

ENTRY INFORMATION

Riders are representing their Club at these National Championships. Although riders can enter directly online, they won't have access to the entries without the unique code from their club to submit their entry.

The Club is responsible for conducting a suitable selection process to ensure that only riders who are competitive at this level are entered in the National Championships.

For timed events, there are Qualifying times that a rider must be able to achieve. The table below specifies the qualifying times, and when clubs can enter riders who are outside the qualifying time.

For other events, it is a requirement that the riders be “of a National Standard”

POOL SYSTEM

A Pool system will operate for those riders who are unable to represent their Club in the team events (e.g. due to insufficient numbers or where club numbers are greater than the Entry Limit per club) Composite teams will be made up by the Commissaire’s Panel (or their delegated authority) from entries submitted by Club Team Managers, in order to create evenly matched teams.

Junior U17 Events

In the MU17 and WU17 500m time trial, all riders who have ridden under the respective qualifying times, are eligible for selection by their Club.

If a Club has no time qualifiers, a maximum of 4 non-qualifiers may be entered.

If a Club has two riders who have met the qualifying time, a further two non-qualifiers may be added to make a maximum of 4 riders.

If more than 4 have met the qualifying time, all are eligible for Club selection but no non-qualifiers can obviously be entered.

This applies for the Junior Time Trial only:

In the Individual Pursuits, with all riders who have met the agreed qualifying times, being eligible for selection.

In the event of only one or two time qualifiers, a further non qualifier can be added to make a maximum of three selections.

ENTRY WITHDRAWS AND REFUNDS

Entries are not transferable.

Refunds may be available if a withdrawal is requested in writing prior to TBC. If accepted a refund of the entry fee less a $25 admin fee will be applied.

Withdrawals submitted after TBC are not eligible for a refund.

MADISON TEAMS

Riders can choose their own Madison pairings ahead of/at the competition. Teams can be club teams or mixed club teams. All Madison team pairings along with team kit/colour must be confirmed at Confirmation of Starters. This is also when Madison race numbers will be allocated and distributed.

LICENCING

All riders, team managers and officials are required to hold a 2025 Cycling New Zealand Licence. Riders will race in their 2025 category.

The finals only will be live on the Cycling New Zealand Facebook page. The quality won't be top class so please be patient and know we are trying our best to get this live for you to have the option to watch all the finals remotely.

Spectators can attend this event for free!

All Clubs are required to nominate a Team Manager (can be a rider or non-rider).

Please email events@cnz.kiwi to appoint your Team Manager.

Clubs will be sent a list of riders and their contact details once entries close. Clubs must appoint a Team Manager prior to the event. The Team Manager must attend Confirmation of Starters and the Team Managers meeting, and distribute race numbers, accreditation and any key messages to their riders.

All Club officials/handlers must be registered by completing this form here (FORM CLOSED) in order to receive accreditation into the in-field. Team Officials are limited to 1 x Manager, 1 x Assistant Manager, 1 x Coach, 1 x Development Coach and 1 x Handler per 5 riders by TBC.

All team officials must have a 2025 Cycling New Zealand Licence with the appropriate technical endorsement from their Club, and they must have their 2025 licence on them at all times to gain access to the infield.

Officially representing the club/team at the event
Connecting with all riding club/team members
Ensuring that all riding club/team members have a current licence
Managing the relationship with Event Officials on behalf of club/team members
Attending the Team Managers meeting
Collecting and distributing Race Numbers to club/team members
Circulating Event Information to club/team members
Ensuring place getters attend the Medal Ceremony
Ensuring riding members have the required information to help them have a safe and fair race.

U15 Category is for riders aged between 13 and 14 as at 31 December 2025.

U17 Category is for riders aged between 15 and 16 as at 31 December 2025.

U19 Category is for riders aged between 17 and 18 as at 31 December 2025.

Elite Category is for riders aged 19 to 34 as at 31 December 2025.

Riders older than 34 can opt to relinquish their Masters status for the entire 2025 licence year and then be eligible to compete in the Elite category. Contact events@cnz.kiwi for further information.

All entries will be required to be approved by the representing club.

Racing will be conducted under UCI regulations and Cycling New Zealand Road & Track racing rules.

SANCTIONS

The UCI scale of penalties will apply.

Any fines issued are on the Team and are payable by the Team Manager to the Commissaires Secretary at the event or Clubs will be invoiced post event.

EQUIPMENT

Bicycles must conform with current UCI regulations.

RACE KIT

Riders must wear their approved Club Colours – skinsuit/jerseys and shorts. Shorts may display sponsors that are detailed on the rider’s racing licence. After 2024, Centre Kit will no longer be acceptable to race in after two years grace.

A start may be refused for any incorrectly attired rider.
